isn't it nice and comforting to see your prejudices confirmed ?

They didn't see that coming: Psychics fail scientific test

so in essence what they're saying is that they're only psychic if they can peek
and it ends on the classic pronouncement of the pseudoscientist : "Scientists are very closed-minded"
if you say you can do certain things but can't give any indication that you can, why should i believe your assertions ? i don't need to be a scientist for that - or a psychic for that matter

Comforting? Nah... Hysterical and obvious all at the same time? Absolutely.

Kim & Patricia, psychics that they are, could have saved everyone a lot of trouble by merely picking up the phone and calling the scientists to tell them they know there's an experiment designed for them coming up and that they would fail if forced to take it. In fact every psychic claimant should do this...... "Hey I'm psychic and I can tell you that I will fail any test designed to debunk me".... can't get any more psychic than that because they would be right every time.

presumably skeptic scientists give off an aura that interferes with their psychic capabilities - or so i've been told

still, why take part in the first place ? did they believe their own make-belief ?

I think Randi"s million should go to the first psychic who says he/she can guarantee they won't pass any ability test. Just give them the money for being dead on, clever and pathetic.

still, it makes you wonder, doesn't it ? is a psychic more convincing if they believe their own spiel, or if they're dead cynical ?
i once read that a good witch doctor is one who doesn't believe what he wants others to believe, but like any good illusionist makes sure that he's not found out or wanting - hence he's got a few tricks up his sleeve to make sure he's convincing to his audience

then again, psychics can always find another schmuck in today's world, whereas a witch doctor in a tribal village is not much good if he's found out - if he's still left alive at all

I think there are a significant number of "psychics" (tarot card readers, etc.) who genuinely believe they have a "gift." But, in actuality, they're just really good at observing people and assessing them intuitively.

Others are out-right frauds.

Still others are probably a mixture -they think they have a gift, but make a lot of stuff up when it suits them.
