(2x+3)(3x+5) is actually the same as (2x+3) multiplied by (3x+5) = (6x +15)Remember in this case (2x+3) is not an equation, it is a value (solution to an equation) since you cant multiply apples time oranges, you would state Apple Apple (2x)+5 orangeswhen you consider it in this manner it becomes easy...3apples x 2 apples = 6 apples+(5 times 3 oranges) (15 oranges) so...(6x+15)Hopefully I remembered that correctly. I haven't used that in about 40 years. LOL

It should be:$\displaystyle \begin{array}{rcl}(2x+3)(3x+5) &=& (2x)(3x+5)+3(3x+5) \\ {} &=& 6x^2+10x+9x+15 \\ {} &=& 6x^2+19x+15\end{array}$gbalkam wrote:Remember in this case (2x+3) is not an equation, it is a value (solution to an equation)It's neither an equation nor a solution. What it is is an expression involving the unknown x.gbalkam wrote:Hopefully I remembered that correctly.Nope. _________________Blog

Appreciate your correction, Olinguito, and also thanks to gbalkam for trying to help the OP which hadn't received a response despite being posted months ago _________________iNow"[Time] is one of those concepts that is profoundly resistant to a simple definition." ~C. Sagan
