if you think of it democracy is a rather strange political institution : the right of certain people to rule over other people just because there's more of them than of the others

no wonder that Churchill said that "Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time"

Not exactly democracy that.

Any form of government can be corrupted. The more spread out the power is, the less likely.
A true factual education is the key, emotion and stunted religious education the enemy.

it's just the spin that's been put out when a close election is narrowly won by one side (and yes, i'm thinking both brexit and Trump), which is to state that "the nation has spoken", so put up or shut up

just over half the people who have voted (and in the case of Trump not even that) is not "the nation", but that's what democracy means : you've lost, so you no longer have a voice - you cease to exist (or at least that's what the vibes are that come from the victorious side)

Some people cannot be bothered to vote. It was notable that in the recent US elections, the pundits were saying that, mostly uneducated people voted for Donald Trump. The pundits were also saying that the vast majority of Americans that did not vote in the recent elections were also uneducated. If voting in the USA was made to be mandatory, Donald Trump would have had a Land Slide Victory. :D

cite your sources for that assertion. Claiming the transphobic and islamophobic Mr trump would have won by a landslide is not accurate.

I never said anything about Mr Trump winning by a landside under other circumstances was not accurate. Cite your sources that Mr Trump is Transphobic and Islamophobic.

OK, if voting was mandatory in the USA for the last Presidential Election, what do you think the outcome of that election would have been ?
