.......NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS IN SCIENCE

AT THE AGE OT THE REIGNING COMPUTER, ELABORATE AND LENGTHY NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS ARE POSSIBLE IF THERE ARE SOUND THEORETICALLY DERIVED EQUATIONS TO WORK WITH, AS WE HAVE FOR EXAMPLE THE NAVIER-STOKES PARTIAL DEFERENTIAL EQUATIONS IN FLUID MECHANICS. THE NUMERICAL SOLUTIONS ARE USEFULL FOR QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS OF FLOWS. IN ATOMIC THEORY AND QUANTUM MECHANICS THE DESCRIPTIONS ARE ABOUT WHAT ONE CAN NOT DO OR FIND, NOT WHAT CAN DO OR FIND. IT'S PROHIBITED TO ASK WHERE AN ELECTRON IS OR WAS IN ATOMS AND MOLECULES YOU CAN ONLY TALK ABOUT THE PROBABILITY OF FINDING AN ELECTRON IN A CERTAIN VOLUME IN SPACE. TO FIND WHAT IT'S NEEDED: HOW ELEMENTS HAVE SHAPED THEIR PREFERENCES (THEIR ATOMIC STRUCTURE) TO FORM BONDS WITH SOME BUT NOT OTHER ELEMEMENTS, SCIENTISTS USE TRIAL AND ERROR METHODS. (OFF COURSE WE ARE HAPPY FOR WHAT THEY AND THE ENGINEERS HAVE CREATED AND WE ARE OBLIGED TO THEM. SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HAVE IMPROVED OUR LIFES. THE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM OTHERS IS MINIMAL)

On the bonding issue one can see often in scientific literature things like this: "If we actually knew how electrons are distributed and move in atoms we would have been able to know better how they bond to form compounds and find new improved materials without having to test hundreds (or even thousands) of combinations every day in labs around the world" OR ".....we have to understand how atoms combine to form molecules; how electrons and nuclei couple........How do all these things behave in a correlated way, ‘dynamically’ in time and space, both at the electron and atomic levels?” AND "Physicists have long chased an elusive goal: the ability to "freeze" and then study the motion of electrons in matter. Such experiments could help confirm theories of electron motion and yield insights into how and why chemical reactions take place."

ONE MAY SAY ABOUT THE HEISENBERGS AND THE SCHRODINGERS THAT WERE VERY SMART BUT THEIR BIG EGOS PROBABLY, DIDN'T LET THEM ADMIT THAT THEY CAN'T FIND THE WHEREABOUTS OF THE ELECTRONS IN THE ATOM. THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE TOOLS BACK THEN (AND SCIENCE STILL DON'T HAVE THEM UNFORTUNATELY) AND DEVICED MIND BOGGLING THEORIES. DID THE WAVE FUNCTION THEORY THAT LEADS TO THE PROBABILITIES OF FINDING ELECTRONS IN CERTAIN AREAS IN THE ATOM HAVE PHYSICAL FOUNDATION OR IS IT A STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF THE UNKNOWN. IT WAS AN INTELLECTUAL GAME OF THEIR WHOLE GANG ABOUT A HUNDRED YEARS AGO WHICH THREW ASH IN PHYSICIST'S EYES AND STILL DOES. MANY PEOPLE ARE STILL STUCK THERE AND SAY ELECTRONS ARE AT TWO PLACES AT THE SAME TIME AND CAN'T MEASURE THEIR POSITION AND MOMENTUM SIMULTANEOUSLY AND THE ACT OF MEASURING CHANGES ITS STATE ETC, ETC. OFF COURSE, IF YOU TAKE PHOTOS OF A CAR MOVING AT 100 Km/Hr WITH A CAMERA THAT CAN ONLY TAKE ONE SHOT EVERY TWO SECONDS YOU DON'T CAPTURE ANYTHING USEFULL OF THE CAR'S PHYSICS OF MOVEMENT. BY ITS OWN NATURE THE ELECTRON HIDES ITS SECRETS IN ITS MAGNITUDE AND SPEED.

QUANTUM MECHANIC'S CONTRIBUTION IS ELECTRON'S ENERGY QUANTIZATION IN THE ATOM. DO CRYSTALLOGRAPHERS USE ORBITALS TO DECIPHER THE PATTERNS OF LIGHT SPOTS THAT THEY ONLY HAVE TO WORK WITH TO FIND THE STRUCTURES OF MOLECULES ? WHEN IT HAS TO DO WITH ELECTRONS AND ATOMS, PHOTOELECTRON SPECTROSCOPY, CRYSTALLOGRAPHY, AND NMR AND AFM AND ITS COUSINS ARE BEAUTIFUL EXPERIMENTAL TOOLS. THOMSONS AND RUTHERFORDS,PLANCKS,BRAGGS,SIEGBAHS AND THE BARDEENS, BRATTAINS AND SHOCKLEYS, THE CRICKS AND WATSONS, BINNIGS AND ROHRERS ARE NEEDED TO GO ONE STEP FURTHER AND HOPEFULLY MORE. WHEN THIS WILL BE. ? ? ?

SCIENCE WILL NOT STOP HERE. THEY HAVE NOT FIND IT ALL. THERE WILL BE MORE BREAKTHROUGHS IN TECHNOLOGICAL TOOLS IN THE DECADES TO COME. (NOT TO MENTION OTHER TIMING FOR SUCH CASES: CENTURIES) THE ANCIENT GREEKS WHO REIGNED THOUGHT 2500 YEARS AGO AND OTHERS IN THE MORE RECENT HISTORY, COULDN'T EVEN IMAGINE THAT PEOPLE WOULD WALK AROUND WITH A LITTLE BOX TALKING TO OTHERS THAT THEY COULDN'T SEE. WHO KNOWS ENOUGH TO EXCLUDE THE POSSIBLE FINDING OF WAYS TO CONCENTRATE RAYS (OR ANYTHING ELSE) OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION (OR OTHER) TO AREAS IN SPACE WHICH ARE SMALLER THAN THE ATOM, FOR EXAMPLE.

ONE MUST ACCEPT NUMERICAL ANALYSIS AS ALSO BEEN A POINT BY POINT AND TIME UNIT TO TIME UNIT CREATION AND TRACING OF PHYSICAL PROCEDURES, IN AN ANIMATED MANNER, WITHOUT DIRECT ABSOLUTE USE OF THE PHYSICAL LAWS GOVERNING THE INVOLVED QUANTITIES. DATA MUST BE CREATED THOUGH THAT CAN BE COMPARED TO THE PHYSICALLY OBSERVED AND MAINLY, THE MEASURABLE QUANTITIES.
WHAT CAN BE SIMULATED WITH COMPUTERS THAT CAN LEAD TO AN INSIGHTFUL PENETRATION INTO THE PHYSICS OF ELECTRON DISTRIBUTION IN ATOMS AND ATOM BONDING.?

HUMBLE WONDERINGS (FICTIONAL ?) BUT IN NO WAY SUGGESTIONS ON THIS MATTER WILL FOLLOW: NUMERICAL SIMULATION IN CRYSTALLOGRAPHY ? AND AN ALMOST RELATIVE TO THE TOPIC: CHASING ELECTRON GHOSTS
