I saw Motorhead live a few times. I was at their 10th birthday party gig at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1985.

From what I read, he died only two days after his cancer diagnosis. I guess it was already too far along to do anything. I'm actually surprised he lived as long as he did. He was well known for drinking a bottle of Jack Daniels every day (until recently), and a prolific amphetamine user.
