Of course this issue is creating lots of click bait videos on you tube but it is an interesting possibility.

This one has me curious, as some of the smartest (and generally most trustworthy and competent) astronomers seem to have ruled out most natural explanations.

Yet to be detected stellar phenomenon - like nebulaes between us and KIC8462852, somehow temporary and irregularly blocking the emissions perhaps? I was thinking 'overcast'.

Cloudy with a chance of lifeforms? :)

I'm still curious as to why intelligent lifeforms and their 'engineered' constructs were factored as a (desired?) possibility? Wouldn't dyson structures of various configuration have resulted in reasonably predictable and regular 'overcast' instead?

edits: Also, considering the distance between the observatory and KIC 8462852, the cause for the 'overcast' would have taken place very long ago (1500 lightyears - old?).

Unless perhaps there is some sort of thruster mechanism to keep the sphere consistently between the star and one of the planets.

Indeed. Whatever we're seeing in the telescopes today actually occurred closer to the time of Jesus, or more accurately closer to the Medieval period and Islamic caliphate.

Or a thruster mechanism that is designed to keep it out of the way of a planet(s). I mean who would want to look at that godawful waste of space from their front porch? ;)

A Dyson sphere is a sphere completely surrounding and enclosing a star, so i don't think it would require any kind of adjustment mechanism.

More likely a huge cluster of small objects than one big one...

An odd branch from a dyson tree perhaps?

Dips up to 20%, lasting 5-80 days.

Perhaps it's being bombarded. Wouldn't that dim it?

It was very interesting to read about about Dyson Spheres, but Dyson Spheres are pure speculation. Up until this pint I thought that Dyson Spheres was something to do with vacuum cleaner guy.

Someone needs to build a fence to keep the Dyson dust bunnies from creating overcast in observed areas. It worked for Australia.

Haven't seen him myself, but that's much more a function of my lack of time to watch videos than about lack of interest.

What about our other members? Anyone familiar, or have comments to share about what's presented.

Anton has a large number of very interesting videos on a wide range of subjects. Very interesting!
