over the last few weeks we had a series of storms, high tides and lots of rain conjuring up a very impressive series of damage wreaked on sea fronts, houses and trees (and the occasional car that got in the way)

have a look at this :

now that's all very fine, after all this is man-made stuff, surely nature stands a better chance of withstanding other forces of nature ? not so fast Sherlock - how about this then :

Storms destroy Porthcothan Bay rock arch formation at Cornwall beach

you expect cliffs to cave off, or like with the ichthyosaur in Charmouth new exposures to be unearthed, but a complete rock arch gone ? wow !
