maybe not my all-time favourite band, but they had some good tunes - now it there won't be any further reunion concerts

US musician Phil Everly dies aged 74

their reunion concert in 1983 in the Royal Albert Hall was one of those heart-warming moments that stay with you for a long time

Possibly the first song I heard that sparked my interest in music was Cathy's Clown, when a girl at some birthday party asked me if I knew the song and all I could do was blush and stammer because a girl had spoken to me. Many many years later my wife and I (no not the same girl) attended a Simon and Garfunkel reunion concert in which the Everlys appeared and did several songs with S & G. Paul Simon, Paul McCartney and I'm sure many others have cited the Everlys as fundamental influences. A great loss; his art will live on.

"wings of a nightingale" is a Paul McCartney song

and their EB84 album resulting form the reunion was produced by Dave Edmunds, one of my all-time favourite musicians
