that appears to be the claim of the link that i clicked on, but the actual BBC site has a different title :

Jersey's place in Neanderthal history revealed in study

so really in the scheme of things this is until now the most recent neanderthals in this part of the world, but nowehere near the most recent occurrence ever
considering that the sediments vary between 100,000 and 47,000 years ago, that's surely before modern man even came on the scene in western europe

so not really sure what this tells us
